The year when the cemetery was founded is not known exactly, but we know from documents that it already existed in the 17th century. The cemetery is located outside the city, it is not easy to find it in the field, despite the fact that about 228 tombstones have survived there. In the previous years, the cemetery occupied a huge area, because not only Jews from Chęciny but also from neighboring communities were buried there. The beginning of the devastation of the cemetery was World War II, followed by the post-war years and the activities of a local policeman. The preserved tombstones are typical tombstones of the 19th century, made of local colored conglomerates, also known as Chęciny marble; in the form of vertical plates with triangular, semicircular and straight finials.
